Today I wanna blog about one of my favorite beauty pageant in the universe witch is Miss Universe. Every year I'm supporting my home country girl (ofcose!!) at the pageant. What I like the most is the National Costume (NC). The NC is important cose it will represent the culture of a country. I would like to say from my opinions, our NC is change every years since 1962 Sarah AlHasbee Abdullah. I can't put all the picture here cose is too long from 1962, so, I cut it since the first time I'm being a fan to this pageant, witch is since 2002. I remember that year I was in high school watching the pageant live from Coliseo Roberto Clemente,San Juan, Puerto Rico where Oxana Fedorova from Russia was crown. Sad, 4 month later, she resigned to 1st Runner Up Miss Panama, Justin Pasek. Yeah, I know all the history, but that is not what I want to talk about.. What really catch my eyes is the first round where all the contestant wearing their NC. I love that part since then. Malaysia, that is the sound of it when our girl introduce them self wearing a beautiful NC.. I love it...
This is the NC that catch my eyes. this year Karen Ang Lit Eit, rocks the Miss Universe. If I'm not mistake this is a songket from Terengganu with the head piece from Melaka. I love this cose it still can show how traditional we can be at the same time still look sexy. Unfortunately Colombia won the NC competition... But thumbs up to Karen!!!
Elaine Daly. This year, my guess was rite, Amelia Vega of Dominican Republic won the Miss Universe 2003. She is still my fave girl of Miss Universe until now. This year, Elaine wore a Nogori Sembile (Negeri Sembilan) NC. What I love most about this NC is, the head piece, It show how Malaysia really care about their heritage & it show on this beautiful handmade head piece that she wore & she look gorgeous on it. Oh this year, Amelia also won the NC competition with her 'under the sea' theme costume.. God she looks hot...
My fave Miss Malaysia none other then now National Director Of Miss Universe Malaysia Organisation... Andrea Fonseka!!! What i love about her is she really show & prove that girl in any size can also be in the pageant. Yeah, this time, she look cute & adorable, nowadays, she a foxy lady.. Andrea really knows how to be gorgeous without being annoying.. I've seen her change, truth?? I follow her every year since the pageant... she's really 'change'. But still she is our girls next door, sweet, lovely & down to earth, that is why people in Malaysia love her. Ok, talking about Andrea, I can wrote a book about her, in 2004 Australian, Jennifer Hawkins took the Miss Universe 2004 title. She amazing by the way.. Panama won the NC competition witch was held at Quito, Ecuador. Andrea wore another head piece from Minang with a beautiful Kebaya. Even thou it was a simple NC, still it's look stunning on her. She really wore the NC, not the NC wore her. The fave in this NC is, the earing.. Yeah, golden big earing witch is hot on that year!!! Kudos to U lovely Andrea... I will always be your supporter..
2005 shows Bangkok, Thailand being the host country. Natalie Glebova of Canada won the title. NC goes to Chananporn Rosjan of Thailand. Simple NC & she rocks on it. This year Malaysia, Angela Gan wore a Perak master piece.. This year I can see lot of contestant wear a simple costume & Angela really being a good representative from Malaysia. She wore this costume with a minimal jewellery. Still she look so beautiful & Congrats Angela.. ;)
Miss Universe 2006 is going back home witch is held in the Shrine Auditorium,Los Angeles,USA. Zuleyka Rivera Mendoza of Puerto Rico won the title. This year, since the first time it show the NC, my eyes was on Japan NC. She really, stunning & hot in that ala Ninja look like warrior princess all blend in one NC. No wonder she won the NC competitions. Malaysia by the way represent by Melissa Ann Tan was still look adorable & sexy. She look like a princess from Malaysia!! Hehehe.. Not much can I say about this NC look, but what I love the most is the fabric. If I'm not mistake it was silk songket.. Melissa you always look cute in my eyes... 
This one is also one of my favorite NC. Why?? it's from Sarawak.. hahhaha...Adelaine Chin Ai Nee, she really look fabulous in this NC. this year Mexico was the host country. Asian girl from Japan, Riyo Mori took the Miss Universe 2007 title. Adelaine really knows whats work what is not, cose she really can fit on those piece beacause as a Sarawakians, Is not easy to rocks the 'Orang Ulu' piece. In Adelaine case, she won... She mixed it with a malay traditional 'cucuk sanggul' head piece, fabulous on her... This year there is no NC competition in the Miss Universe history. But in my eyes, Adelaine won.. LOL
Another beautiful master piece wore by Malaysia representative at the Miss Universe 2008 In Nha Trang, Vietnam. this time Malaysia really took it 'wild'. Levy Li Su Lin really look Elegant on it. this time it was a mixed, kinda remind me oh Puteri Hang Li Po. She wore a traditonal 'Baju Melayu Cekak Musang' & 'Terengganu songket' as her 'pashmina'.. She also bring a 'keris' to complete the warrior look. This is what I really proud cose this costume shows Malaysia in a lot of colors means Malaysia is a peaceful country & life in harmony.. Thailand won the NC competition this year with a Muay Thai look, witch is beautiful on Gavintra Photijak.. Dayana Mendoza of Venezuela took the Miss Universe 2008 title. By the way you look fabulous Levy..
Joannabelle Ng Li Vun. This time Malaysian girl wore a traditional from Melaka 'Kebaya Nyonya' witch she look so amazing on it. She mixed it with 'Songket' from Terengganu. This Kebaya remind me of 2004 NC, but this tme in the modern way. Joannabelle really amaze on it with the head band & her hair loose down.. oh my.. she really knows what Malaysian girl should look like & she really took the '1 Malaysia' theme. Miss Universe 2009, saw another girl from Venezuela won the title. Stefania Fernandez really shine at the Atlantis Paradise Islands, Bahamas. The NC competition was won by Panama. Joannabelle will always being an amazing girl for Malaysian people... Great job!!!!
In Miss Universe 2010, Nadine Ann thomas really took the pageant outshine. Ofcose Miss Universe Malaysia is already in a good hand of Andrea Fonseka. This year she wore something from kelantan, called 'Cik Siti Wan Kembang' theme. What I love most is the head piece, it was a gold beaded diamond and the skirt was beautiful as she pair it with a nude heels.. What a gorgeous NC by Amir Luqman. Even thou Nadine didn't make the cut, but she make Malaysia proud because she is one of a good contender at the pageant. Mexico, Ximena Navarette won the title witch was held in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA. Thailand again won the NC competition.. But Nadine is really stunning ladies on this year as Miss Malaysia...
Last on the list is, Deborah Priya Henry. This girls is blend all from 2002 until 2010. She is one of the most success Miss Malaysia in history, even thou she didn't won the title of Miss Universe 2011 witch is goes to Angola, Leila Lopes. Deborah really has put Malaysia on the map of beauty pageant. Since her first arrival at Sao Paolo, Brazil, she stole the lime light. Everyone had eyes on her as she is one of the fave to won the title. She also had been label as one of the strongest contender on this year. No doubt Deborah got her own 'wow factor'. Lot of pageant expert say when she didn't won the title she will always being one of the stunning contestant in the Miss Universe history. Deborah on the NC competition wore an a lovely & beautiful piece by Amir Luqman. She channel the 'wau bulan' look witch is look so good on her. My fave on this NC, everything if my fave, the head piece, seriously, is not easy to stand with that piece on top of our head, the dress impersonate the 'wau' look, songket blend with chiffon.. stunning.. Oh the nude heels is really on fashion rite now.. What else can I say about her. She made Malaysia really proud & I'm sure from this year, all the pageant expert will be eyeing on Malaysia representative.. By the way, Panama again win the NC competition. Deborah will always gonna be a Queen of pageant for Malaysian people...
